Our optometrist takes the time at the end of your eye exam to educate you about all health findings and ensures to give her recommendations for the best lens choice that would cater to your needs. Our opticians help you select the frame styles that are recommended for your prescription while keeping your personal style in mind!
Dr. Arora’s primary interest lies in complete family care, with a special interest in pediatric optometry. Dr. Arora graduated with a Bachelor of Health Sciences Degree with Honours from the University of Calgary and a Doctor of Optometry Degree on the Dean's Honours List from the University of Waterloo. She subsequently completed post-doctorate studies including two Fellowships in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (FCOVD) and the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO). She is one of few optometrists across Canada to have completed these fellowships and her goal is to stay up-to-date on all optometric research to provide the best and most thorough care for her patients of all ages.
Dr. Arora is a Board-Certified Development Optometrist and is actively involved in providing Vision Therapy for children and adults, which consists of eye exercises employed to treat conditions such as lazy eye, eye movement dysfunctions, eye focussing dysfunctions and eye teaming dysfunctions. She also has a special interest in Dry Eye Disease, and stays updated on the latest technologies and treatment options for this common and chronic condition. Dr. Arora is president of the Calgary Society of Optometrists and is an active member of the Alberta College of Optometrists and the Alberta Association of Optometrists. In her free time, she enjoys staying fit, swimming, trying different cuisines and spending time with her family and friends. Dr. Arora welcomes the opportunity to meet new patients and their families. She provides eye exams in English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu.
Dr. Huong Huynh’s educational background includes: a Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary, and a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo. She completed her disease and ocular therapeutics training in Florida, where she had the opportunity to work with optometrists and opthalmologists, including: vitreo-retinal, cataract and oculo-plastic specialists.
Dr. Huynh has volunteered on eye care missions in Romania and hopes to continue to help communities locally and internationally. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and the Alberta Association of Optometrists. Outside of optometry, she enjoys live music, reading, photography and spending time with her family.
Dr Huynh has a special interest in pediatric optometry, myopia control, speciality contact lens fittings, and dry eye management. Dr. Huynh is passionate about thorough patient care and believes that there is no single approach that is right for every individual. She is excited to meet and care for you and your family.
Dr. Steven Cheung studied biomedical sciences at the University of Waterloo (UW) and later received his Master of Science from the Centre for Ocular Research and Education (CORE). His research focused on ways to make contact lenses more comfortable to wear by manipulating their material properties. During his time at CORE, Dr. Cheung developed an interest in the eyes and ocular health. Afterwards, he was accepted to the UW School of Optometry and Vision Science and earned his Doctor of Optometry with Dean’s Honours.
He completed his externship training in Dauphin, Manitoba, where he provided eyecare to under-served surrounding rural communities. While in Manitoba, Dr. Cheung had the opportunity to collaborate with local Ophthalmologists on various ocular conditions, such as cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma. In addition to providing full comprehensive eye examinations, Dr. Cheung has an interest in dry eye management, myopia control, and specialty contact lens fitting.
While originally born and raised in Ontario, Dr. Cheung now calls Alberta his new home. He enjoys exploring the city to try new restaurants and different cuisines. Dr. Cheung is a video and board game enthusiast, as well lives an active lifestyle where he plays ultimate frisbee and basketball. He is proud to be at Urban Eyecare providing his optometric services to the Calgary community.
Dr. Lauren Drewry earned a BSc in Biology and a BSc in Psychology at the University of Calgary before going on to earn her Doctor of Optometry at Pacific University in Oregon. Her clinical rotations took her to sites around the US and Canada with specialties in pediatrics/vision therapy, contact lens, ocular disease and primary care. Dr. Drewry has a passion for working with children and families, but enjoys caring for patients of all ages. Dr. Drewry is a member of the Alberta Association of Optometrists (AAO) and the Calgary Society of Optometrists (CSO).
We have a team of friendly and knowledgeable opticians and optometric assistants who work closely with our optometrists to provide the most customized approach for our patients’ specific visual needs.
